Industrial Visit to PUNCOM Pvt. Ltd. Mohali

   Department of ECE, CGC College of Engineering organized an industrial visit on 18/06/2015 at PUNCOM Pvt. Ltd.  Mohali, for the 2nd year students under the guidance of Dr.Rinkesh Mittal, HOD ECE. PUNCOM Pvt. Ltd is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Telecommunication and IT equipment and solutions in India. This visit helps the students in terms of the technical details provided by the company on Wave soldering,Transformer construction, Tapering and about primary, secondary windings of transformer which helps the students in  making electronics projects. They also guide the students for various Career Opportunities in Electronics based companies. Overall the whole session was an educating and interactive one and was useful for students in all ways.

Workshop on PCB Designing

  Department of ECE, CGC College of Engineering organized an expert lecture on PCB Designing  by Mr. Ashutosh Tripathi from Next Academy of Research and Robotics on 16/06/2015 for 2nd year workshop Training students under the guidance of Dr.Rinkesh Mittal, HOD ECE. This expert lecture includes the designing of PCB using software Proteus. Students designed their own PCBs using this software during expert lecture. This
lecture helps the students in making any electronic circuit on PCB and also helps them in soldering the components on PCB. This lecture gives a great exposure to the 2nd year electronics students for working on hardware projects.

                       

Expert Lecture on PLCs, SCADA and NAS Basics

  Department of ECE, CGC College of Engineering organized an expert lecture on PLCs, SCADA and NAS basics by Mr. Harbhajan Singh from Wonder Automation on 15/06/2015 for 2nd year workshop Training students under the guidance of Dr.Rinkesh Mittal, HOD ECE. This expert lecture included basics of PLCs, Relay Logic and Ladder Programming, examples of PLC ladder diagram realization. The expert also gave practical applications of PLCs and SCADA in home automation. Basics of circuit theory like mesh, loop analysis, theorems were also included in the lecture. This lecture helps the students in making PLC and SCADA based major projects.

Industrial Visit To Doordarshan Kendra, Kasauli

A two day trip-cum-Industrial visit at Doordarshan Kendra was organized by Miss.Preeti Gulati (Assistant Professor) ECE Department of CGC-COE with the motivation of Dr.Manish Pandey, Principal, CGC-COE and Dr. Rinkesh Mittal, HOD (ECE) CGC COE and faculty members. A pro-active participation of students of M.Tech E.C.E.(2nd sem) and B.tech E.C.E.(6th sem) was seen.
            Shri Raj Kumar Shanu, Assistant Engineer, Doordarshan Kendra, HPT, Kasauli extended his great support and help in show-casing the various processes on-going in the Kendra. Various experts discussed the basics of wireless communication which is used in broadcasting T.V. signals over the Northern region of the country. Practical implementation of the same was seen and implemented by the students.
 Overall, it as wonderful experience for the students of ECE Department of CGC-COE to visit such a primary process which is backbone of modern industry. Students thanked the institute to provide them an opportunity to experience such an informative visit.
Dr Vikas Singh, Campus Director-CGC while appreciating efforts of Team CGCCOE led by Principal Dr. Manish Pandey and HOD-ECE Dr. Rinkesh Mittal for organizing such a Industrial Visit for students.
Chairman of Chandigarh Group of Colleges S. Satnam Singh Sandhu and President S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal encouraged the participants to take part in such activities and praised department for the event. The management at CGC always looks forward to organize such educational visits so that students should be exposed to practical knowledge.

Future Trends in Engineering and Career Counseling Event


A Career Counseling event was organized on 13/02/2015 under the guidance of Dr.Rinkesh Mittal, HOD ECE. Event started with a welcome note from Ms.Preeti Gulati, Assistant Prof. & Electrocultural Club Coordinator. Then, she invited Guest of Honour Dr.Manish Pandey, Principal, CGCCOE and Dr.Rinkesh Mittal, HOD ECE. More than 100 students from B.Tech & M.Tech E.C.E. participated in the event. Mr.Gaurav Aggarwal explained about the importance of career counseling and various options for students to adopt in coming future. With the help of this event students are well guided and gaining knowledge about the different competition examination like GATE, IES, PSUs, NET etc. After that Mr.Ravi Kaliyar and Mr.Sumit Thakur also explained the syllabus and Pattern of these types of examination. At end they also have taken Scholarship test from students. 



ICT based short term course on Microprocessor, Microcontroller and its Applications



A short term course sponsored by NITTTR, Chandigarh was organized from 19/01/2015 to 23/01/2015. Inaugurated on 19/01/2015 with the motivation of Dr.Manish Pandey, Principal, CGC-COE and Dr. Rinkesh Mittal, HOD (ECE) CGC COE. Faculty members of all departments from CGC as well as CEC along with Students of M.Tech E.C.E., CSE participated in the programme. 
Dr.Vikas Singh, Campus Director CGC inaugurated the Five days Short term course and explained benefits of the course. Dr.Ms.Poonia Director NITTTR inaugurated the online session. Ms. Ritula Thakur, Associate Professor Elec. Engg. Deptt Of NITTTR Chandigarh explained the basics of Microcontroller and Embedded System in an interactive way during morning session. During the evening session Dr.Babankumar Bansod, Senior Scientist Agrionics Deptt. CSIO explained various practical applications of embedded system in agriculture domain.

Regarding submission of Thesis Synopsis of M.tech 4th Sem on 15th & 16th Jan 2015

This is to inform all M.tech 4th Sem students that their thesis synopsis submission with presentation  is scheduled on 15th Jan 2015 & 16th Jan 2015. No synopsis will be considered after scheduled submission dates.

Schedule as follows:

Roll No 1345011 to 1345020 (15th Jan 2015) 
Roll No 1345011 to 1345020 (16th Jan 2015) 



GUIDELINES FOR SIX MONTHS INDUSTRIAL TRAINING OF B.TECH. (ECE) 8th SEM.


1.      Confirmation Letter:
            You will be required to submit the confirmation letter by 15th Jan., 2015.

2.      Industrial Training Division:
Duration: 6 Months
Course Component

Industry Oriented Project Training
4 Months

Ø  The software training can be from any of following software like:
·         ORCAD,
·         MATLAB,
·         Mentor DSP,
·         MULTISIM,
·         OPTSIM,
·         OPTISYSTEM
·         NS2
·         OPNET etc.
·         QUALNET
·         ULTIBOARD
·         XILINX
·         MODELSIM/ QUESTA SIM
·         KIEL etc
Ø  The sequence of the training should be Software training first followed by Industry Oriented Project Training.
Ø  In case you have already started your training in Industry Oriented Project domain then continue with the same.

3.      Training Certificate:
Ø  You will have to submit separate certificate for both module i.e. Industry Oriented Project Training /Software Training. Duration of the training should be mentioned on each certificate.
Ø  If any of the student is undergoing 6 months Industrial Training in an Organization in which he/she is placed, then he/she will have to submit software training certificate with duration (from same or different organization) and Industry Oriented Project Training Certificate.

4.      Progress Report of first module:
Ø  You have to submit Progress Report of first module file in the last week of February 2015 (will also be intimated to you by 15 Feb 2015).
Ø  Along with progress report of two month training, you have to submit the Confirmation letter for next training module (Software / Industry Oriented Project Training).

5.      Daily Diary

Students will have to maintain a Daily Diary regarding the progress of the training. Format for the same will be forwarded to you very soon.
